Holidays
At Mercy Housing, we recognize:
- New Year’s Day
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- Presidents’ Day
- Memorial Day
- Juneteenth Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Veterans Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Day after Thanksgiving
- Christmas Day
- Winter Holiday Break — The period between Christmas Day through New Year’s Day
- Annual Employee Anniversary Date (used on/after 60 days from your Anniversary Date)
NOTE: Only regular employees, working 20 or more hours per week are eligible for paid holidays, early close and thank you hours. Hours are prorated for part-time employees.
Floating Holidays
National
In addition to the holidays listed, eligible employees receive two personal floating holidays to use at their discretion. You are immediately eligible for this benefit upon hire. Unredeemed floating holidays are forfeited at the end of the calendar year.
California Only
In addition to the holidays listed, eligible employees receive their birthday and their half year anniversary as paid holidays. Unredeemed floating holidays are forfeited if not used within 60 days. The day off must be taken on/after this date, otherwise the day is forfeited.
Paid Time Off (PTO)
In addition to using PTO for vacation, you may also use it for personal matters that require your absence from work such as, but not limited to, medical or dental appointments, an illness or to care for ill or injured dependents. Employees should request approval whenever possible for scheduled PTO absences in advance through UKG using the electronic time off request.
Employees earn PTO time according to the following accrual schedule:
NOTE: PTO is prorated for part-time employees. (20+ hrs/week). Employees hired prior to January 1, 2012, contact payroll for accrual rates.
Early Wrap-Up & Gratitude Time
Early Closing
On the day prior to an observed holiday, Mercy Housing grants all staff a 3-hour Early Closing from your normal work schedule.
Thank You Hours
Every Friday, Mercy Housing grants all staff 3 hours thank you pay from your normal work schedule.
Example: You are scheduled 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (including 1 hour lunch) on a Thank You Day or an Early Closing Day. You work 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. and will be paid for a full eight hours.
Important Note
If Early Closing or Thank You Hours fall in the first 5 days of the month, employees are required to maintain normal office hours. The Early Closing and Thank You Hours are not eligible for overtime calculation. The three hours for Early Close and Thank You Hours are pre-populated on the eligible day. If any Friday falls on a holiday or early close day you will not earn Thank You Hours on those days.
