Public Student Loan Forgiveness

What is Public Service Loan Forgiveness?

The Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program forgives the remaining balance on your federal direct loans after you make 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying public service employer.

This program helps you manage your student loan debt while pursuing a career in public service. Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) is available to Mercy Housing employees which is a qualifying non-profit organization. Only federal direct loans are eligible for PSLF. A federal direct loan is a federal student loan made directly by the U.S. Department of Education. However, if you have other federal loans originated under the Federal Family Educational Loan (FFEL) Program or the Perkins Loan Program, you have to consolidate those loans into a new direct consolidation loan to qualify.

You can learn more about what type of loan you have through the US Department of Education’s Federal Student Aid website.

Employee Giving

Help Us Build Vibrant Communities

Many Mercy Housing employees are eager to further support our residents and make an even greater impact. Even a small gift through payroll deduction adds up to make a meaningful difference for the residents we serve. Employees can choose to designate their support to a specific region and select whether their gift benefits General Operating or Resident Services.

Participation is 100% optional, but this giving option is available for anyone who would like to make a gift in support of Mercy Housing’s mission. Go here for more information and fill out a form to start contributing: Employee Giving.

If you aren't interested in setting up a payroll deduction but would still like to make a one-time gift, you can do that here: Help Families, Seniors & Those in Need | Donate to Mercy Housing.

Thank you for helping us build vibrant communities where everyone has a place to call home. If you have any questions about employee giving, please email gifts@mercyhousing.org.

ABOUT THIS GUIDE: Actual plan provisions for Mercy Housing (“the Company”) benefits are contained in the appropriate plan documents, including the Summary Plan Description (SPD) and incorporated benefit/carrier booklets. The Digital Benefits Hub is a summary only and does not describe each benefit option. This Digital Benefits Hub provides updates to your existing SPD as of the first day of plan year, which describes your health and welfare benefits in greater detail. Until the Company provides you with an updated SPD, this guide is intended to be a Summary of Material Modification (SMM) and should be retained with your records along with your SPD. As always, the official plan documents determine what benefits are available to you. If any discrepancy exists between this guide and the official documents, the official documents will prevail. The Company reserves the right to amend or terminate any of its plans or policies, make changes to the benefits, costs, and other provisions relative to benefits at any time with or without notice, subject to applicable law.
